Sweet Sixteen Cupcakes

Although most people seem to be eating chocolate at this time of year, there is still room for cake - especially if it's your birthday and you are turning sixteen.  I made these cupcakes for a family birthday tea to celebrate a sixteenth birthday - girly, but not too girly.

Girly Christening Cake

Sometimes it's lovely when someone gives you a very relaxed and open design brief.  The client who ordered this cake just said 'pink and girly'...and it is.  I really enjoyed making this Christening cake and I know that the lady who ordered it was very happy too.  Very satisfying!

Cupcakes by post

I have been experimenting with sending cakes by post...so, this week made theatrical cupcakes for friends of mine who are into 'am dram'.  Anyway, the postman apparently took no notice whatsoever of my FRAGILE message on the box and threw them over the gate at their destination as noone was in.  But the good news is that I have had a phone call from them this evening and despite all this they have arrived unsacathed!  So from now on Vicki's Cakes will be offering cupcakes by post...what a great idea for a present for someone who lives at the other end of the country, and a yummy alternative to flowers. 

Airbrushed Tom & Jerry Cake

I've been playing with my new toy - a cake airbrusher. I've wanted one for a while now, but finally got round to buying one last week.  So of course, I had to have a play with it on one of this weeks cakes - a Tom and Jerry birthday cake for a little boy.  I was pleased with the overall result, and am now thinking about whether I can incoroprate some airbrushing into some of next weeks creations....I'll have to see!  In the mean time, here's the Tom & Jerry cake in all its airbrushed glory.
